Hiring a Police Chief is similar to electing a Sheriff, they are both very important roles in local government and should not be a decision taken lightly.  As a former Mayor for the City of Wyoming, I had the responsibility of selecting the right person to lead the Wyoming Police department.  In 2009 we had dozens of people apply for the position and go through a competitive process to help us identify the person who would advance our Police Department into the 21st century.

Chief Paul Hoppe was that person, he brought the right experience, education, vision and leadership to transform the Wyoming Police Department into one of the most recognized community engaged Police Departments in the State and recognized nationally for the unique programs he has implemented to create transparency, trust and community engagement.

Chief Hoppe, is a very skilled leader.  He has demonstrated his inclusive leadership that empowers his employees, builds a culture of team work focused on results, encourages community involvement, and challenges the organization and his employees to always to do better.  More importantly, Chief Hoppe is a collaborator, he is always looking for new ways to partner with our residents, businesses, and government partners to find new and innovative ways to better serve our residents.

Chief Hoppe is an outstanding and proven public safety leader, I had the honor of hiring him and now its Washington County resident’s opportunity.  I support Paul Hoppe for Washington County Sheriff and I recommend you do also.
